Confirm the stage of the build
Do not book the final presentation clean while trades are still creating dust or moving materials through finished rooms. Confirm whether the site is genuinely ready for cleaning, whether utilities are connected and whether construction waste has been removed.
If more trades are returning after the clean, identify which areas can be completed now and which will require a final touch-up later.
Fine dust control
Construction dust settles repeatedly. Work from higher surfaces downward, then complete floors after airborne and surface dust has been reduced.
Pay attention to ledges, frames, cabinetry, skirting, tracks, fixtures and other horizontal surfaces where fine dust remains visible even when the room looks clean from the doorway.
Kitchens, bathrooms and joinery
New surfaces may have manufacturer instructions, protective films, silicone residue or delicate finishes. Confirm what products can be used instead of attacking every mark with the strongest chemical available.
Cabinet interiors, drawers, benchtops, sinks, tapware, tiles, shower screens and fixtures should be included or excluded explicitly in the scope.
Glass, frames and labels
Window glass, internal doors, mirrors and glazed surfaces often carry dust, fingerprints, labels or installation marks. Difficult-height glass and external glazing should be scoped separately.
Sticker and adhesive removal can be labour-intensive and may risk the underlying finish, so it should be identified before pricing rather than treated as a surprise add-on.
Final handover presentation
Remove cleaning waste, complete floors, reset movable items and do a final inspection in strong natural light where possible. Fine dust and smears often become obvious only when the room is fully lit.
Builders, owners and property managers should agree on the handover standard before the job begins so there is a clear definition of complete.
